Multinational Aid to Burma Earthquake Zone

China: The Chinese government promptly launched an emergency humanitarian relief mechanism and became the first foreign relief force to arrive in Myanmar. The 82-member national rescue team sent by the Ministry of Emergency Management flew to Yangon on the afternoon of 29, carrying 22 tons of professional equipment and three search and rescue dogs, and rushed to the disaster area of Mandalay overnight to carry out rescue. A 37-member medical team from Yunnan Province arrived in Yangon at 7 am on the 29th and immediately launched search and rescue in Naypyidaw disaster area. At 5 am local time on the 30th, they successfully rescued a survivor who had been trapped for nearly 40 hours. In addition, the Hong Kong SAR 51-member Rescue Team, Xiamen Blue Sky Rescue Team, Shenzhen Public Welfare Rescue Team and other non-governmental forces have also arrived, and the Red Cross Society of China has provided tents, medical kits and other materials. At the same time, the Chinese government has decided to provide 100 million RMB yuan of emergency humanitarian earthquake relief assistance to Myanmar, and the first batch of aid is scheduled to be shipped from Yunnan on March 31.
Other countries and international organizations: Singapore sent a rescue team of 80 people and 4 rescue dogs; Malaysia sent a team of 50 to support; India has provided emergency supplies such as tents, sleeping bags, blankets and ready-to-eat meals, as well as medical supplies such as antibiotics, and has urgently dispatched search and rescue teams. New Zealand is providing NZ $2 million (US $1.14 million) to Myanmar to support emergency relief efforts after the earthquake. The Philippines said it was ready to send three emergency medical assistance teams upon completion of international coordination procedures and receipt of a request. The United Nations has allocated $5 million for emergency relief and coordinated medical teams to deploy temporary hospitals. The ASEAN statement stressed that regional collaboration will be strengthened to ensure efficient deployment of relief resources, the deployment of the ASEAN Emergency Response and Assessment Team, the activation of the ASEAN Disaster Emergency Logistics System, the mobilisation of urban search and rescue forces, and the coordination of humanitarian assistance with the assistance of the ASEAN Humanitarian Relief Coordination Centre.
