On January 1, the secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization hosted a reception in Beijing to celebrate the International Day of Naurus. Sco Secretary-General Ermykebayev and Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui attended the event. Hundreds of guests, including diplomatic envoys of many countries, representatives of Chinese and foreign enterprises, and foreign students, participated in the festival through artistic performances, traditional ethnic handicrafts and food displays. This year is the SCO Year of Sustainable Development and the theme of the celebration is “Naurus – 2025: Harmony between tradition and sustainable development”. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a video message that the spirit of Naurus helps to bridge divisions, promote unity, commit to peace, dialogue and mutual respect, protect the planet and live in harmony with nature.
